Craig Voges wins award at Rose Hulman football banquet.
Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology held their 2010 football banquet on Saturday, Jan 15, 2011.
During the banquet, Craig Voges (2009-10 FPHS graduate) won the Special Team Player of the Year award. During his freshman year, Craig started each contest on the Special Teams – kickoff, kick return, and punt. For the season he recorded 13 solo tackles and 5 assisted tackles for a total of 18 which was ranked 12th on the team in tackles. Craig also recovered a fumble during the season while on special teams. During the presentation, Coach Tony Karras stated “ We could have put only Craig in with Nick (RHIT kicker) on each kickoff and Craig would have made the tackle.” Picture: Craig Voges (40) recovered a fumble on special teams to set up a Rose-Hulman touchdown.

Two Rangers Receive IFCA Academic All-State Titles

2010 All-State Football Team Named
On December 6th, the Indiana Football Coaches Association named it's 2010 2A All-State Football Team and three Ranger players received all-state titles. On the offensive squad, Senior quarterback Grant Welp and senior wide receiver Kyle Schwinghamer received the honors. Junior defensive back Lynk Kordes earned his spot on the defensive squad. Wagner Named 2010 All-SW Indiana High School Football Coach of The Year
On Sunday, December 5th, The Evansville Courier & Press announced its selection for the 2010 All-Southwestern Indiana high school football team. Terry Wagner was named Coach of the Year after guiding the Rangers to a 8-3 season, establishing 2010 as the team's first winning season in its third year of varsity football. Senior Kyle Schwinghamer was named one of three wide receivers on the all-area team with 55 catches, 908 yards and seven touchdowns in the season. Junior Ben Braunecker joined the skill position players on offense. Braunecker made the team as a specialist after returning three kicks for touchdowns and averaging 30.5 yards on punt returns and 35 yards on kickoffs. He also caught 19 passes for 500 yards. 2010 Associated Press All-State Football Team Named
Wednesday, December 1st's announcement of the Associated Press' All-State football teams included an honorable mention for three Ranger football players. The Associated Press selects the best high school football players in each class for its All-State roster. Senior quarterback Grant Welp, senior wide receiver Kyle Schwinghamer and junior wide receiver Ben Braunecker received honorable mention in Class 2A. The three combined for 1,969 total yards of offense and 23 touchdowns leading the Rangers to its first winning season. |
2010 Forest Park Football Banquet
The 2010
Forest Park Football Banquet was held on November 21, 2010 in the high
school cafeteria. Over 200 players, parents, grandparents and fans
attended... the largest crowd to date.
The evening began with an update on the SP&F youth football league presented by Eric Uebelhor.
Head Coach Terry Wagner presented senior players with a commemorative plaque which included
a small piece of football skin and a Band of Brothers wrist band.

Coach Wagner presented a Ranger Football Ironman t-shirt to nine players who exhibited both dedication and intensity this season. Ironman players had to have played both offense and defense and be on three of the four special teams.
Student athletes who have maintained a 3.5 or higher GPA.
Student athletes who are in the top 10% of their class, have a 4 point GPA and scored a 28 or better on the ACT.

2010 PAC All-Conference Football Squad Named
The PAC (Pocket Athletic Conference) named its all-conference team football squad this week. Forest Park's senior quarterback Grant Welp was named the offensive caption. Also represented was senior wide receiver Kyle Schwinghamer, senior kicker Caleb Williams, junior wide receiver Ben Braunecker, junior linebacker Miles Leonard and junior guard Anthony Fischer. Senior center Lee Uebelhor and junior defensive lineman Lynk Kordes received honorable mention. Going 5-2 in PAC games, the Rangers tied South Spencer for second place. Rangers lose to Mater Dei in class 2A sectional semi-finals 14-48
News 25 Sports Channel - Game of the Week Mater Dei proves to be too much to handle in the Class 2A sectional semi-finals on Friday, October 29th. The Rangers suffered a tough loss in the sectional semi-finals putting an end to a historical third season. Junior wide receiver Ben Braunecker made good on a 20 yard pass from senior quarterback Grant Welp for the Rangers first touchdown of the evening. Freshman kicker Dakota Begle completed the extra point kick. Welp also rushed for a 3 yard touchdown with senior kicker Jonathon Russel completing the extra point. Season 3 Highlights: Historical first time wins over Perry Central and PAC rivals North Posey and Southridge, first winning season 8-3, ended the season ranked 12th in the AP Media Poll and 13th in the IFCA Coaches Poll. Rangers beat Tell City in Class 2A Sectional 42-27
The Rangers won their first football sectional game on Friday, October 22nd by outplaying the Tell City Marksman on both sides of the ball. Great team effort and win. Junior wide receiver Ben Braunecker started the scoring by rushing for a 3 yard touchdown. Senior quarterback Grant Welp connected to senior wide receiver Kyle Schwinghamer for a 35 yard touchdown pass. Freshman kicker Dakota Begle converted the extra point. Welp got a TD for himself rushing for a 21 yard touchdown. Sophomore running back Travis Schnell got in on the scoring by running for a 3 yard touchdown and several minutes later he ran for another 2 yard touchdown as well as succesfully running for 2 point conversion. Schnell continued the ground and pound attack with a third touchdown run and Senior kicker Gina Bettag completed the evening by converting the extra point kick. Rangers Beat Tell City 28-7
On Friday, October 15th, Forest Park ran over Tell City to win 28-7. The first half didn't provide many highlights other than the Ranger defense holding tight to kept the score to 0-0 at halftime. The Rangers found the rushing game to start the third quarter with sophomore running back Travis Schnell scoring with an 18 yard touchdown. Senior kicker Jonathan Russell completed the extra point kick. Schnell continued his rushing by scoring 4 yard touchdown. Senior kicker, Gina Bettag completed the extra point. Senior wide receiver Kyle Schwinghamer made an impressive 6 yard touchdown catch from senior quarterback Grant Welp. Freshman kicker Dakota Begle converted the extra point. Welp gave the Marksmen a taste of the Ranger air attack by connecting to junior wide receiver Lynk Kordes for a 12 yard touchdown pass. Senior kicker Jonathan Russell completed the kick. The night began honoring the senior football players, managers and cheerleaders. We would like to recognize this talented class of 2010 along with their supportive parents for playing such a key role in the foundation of Ranger Football.
